* Password “admin”

Step 1 Once you have physically set up your linksys router you are not ready for the configuration. How to log into linksys router is the easiest part of the process.  Just open your Mozilla Fire Fox or your internet explorer. Go to the ULR tab and place “http://192.168.1.1/ then hit “enter”.

At once a box will prompt on your screen where you need to input username and password. Put “admin”  on the password and you can leave the username behind. Hit enter and you must connect to the internet.

Step 2- Once you are connected to the internet you must find “internet set-up” and click it. Click the drop down menu and select your internet connection type. You must choose “DHCP” but if you are using Cable modems you must choose “PPPoE” that is common for DSL users. To be sure that you are choosing the correct type, it is best to double check your ISP.

Once this is done you must set the service identifier as SSID so the router can be indentified properly. From here you can change the password for your personal security and use of your internet connection. If you do not change your password, any users near to your reset linksys router can actually access and use your internet connection.

Now it is time for you to encrypt your wireless by the use of WEP that you will find under the Wireless security tab. This will generate the password security for any users that will want to connect to your router. Once all done, you have successfully configured your router and ready for your use.
